Trine University has added an experienced fundraiser with 17 years of higher education
experience to its Office of University Advancement.
Steve Oursler has joined Trine as director of development, after most recently serving
in a similar position at Midland University in Nebraska.
Oursler also has served in fundraising roles at several private colleges in Michigan,
including work as senior director of philanthropy and planned giving at Albion College
in Albion, Michigan, associate director of development at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo,
Michigan, and Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He has been an integral part of three
comprehensive campaigns, assisting donors in making the biggest impact with their
philanthropy.
“Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in planned giving and major giving
as well as familiarity with higher education in this region, and we’re excited for
him to join our team at Trine,” said Kent Stucky, J.D., vice president for university
advancement. “Trine University depends on many generous supporters to provide a quality
education and vibrant campus environment to its students, and we look forward to Steve’s
work in building those relationships.”
“I’m excited and honored to represent the university in this role. Trine University
is a true success story in the higher education sector. We clearly have alumni and
supporters who are energized about what is happening here, as they should be,” Oursler
said.
“I want alumni to know there are numerous avenues to lend support, whether through
giving, volunteering, or helping recruit future students. My hope is that donors will
consider Trine University one of their top three philanthropic charities to continue
our momentum into the future.”
Oursler holds Certified Fundraising Management (CFRM) designation from Indiana University
and is a Certified Estate Planner (CEP).
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Hope College with a
concentration in interpersonal communications.
