Leaders from higher education and industry will have the opportunity to learn and
discuss how to recruit, hire and retain the diverse, exceptional talent pool available
through Hoosier colleges and universities at the Indiana Talent Forum 2024 on Tuesday,
Aug. 6, in Trine University’s MTI Center.
Sponsored by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), the Forum, which
will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will offer panel discussions featuring local
business leaders, higher education administrators and personnel from college and university
career centers.
Following a welcome from Gretchen Miller, senior vice president and chief operating
officer, Trine University (Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine University president),
attendees will hear brief remarks from Tony Denhart, executive vice president of talent
and workforce with the IEDC.
Kim Tempel, senior director of Northeast Indiana Works, and Rick Farrant, director
of communications for Northeast Indiana Works, will share data on labor market demands
and employer outcomes.
A higher education panel will include Jason Blume, assistant vice president of Innovation
One, Trine University; Joe McMichael, vice chancellor of Ivy+Career Link, Ivy Tech
Community College; and Julie Caldwell, director of career development, University
of Saint Francis.
Hallie Custer, vice president of human resources, Parkview Health; Jordan Applegate,
senior director of human resources, Sweetwater; and Erin Serafino, director of talent,
OrthoWorx, will make up a panel representing industry.
Participants will have the opportunity to network with professionals across multiple
sectors and contribute to strategic planning sessions focused on talent acquisition
and retention. They will learn about resources and programs that support hiring and
retention efforts, and how Indiana's higher education institutions are partnering
with employers to create clear career pathways.
