Samantha Fulton ~ Director of Dual Enrollment

Education has always been my passion. For more than 15 years, I taught math and science as both a high school teacher and an adjunct professor—learning just as much from my students as they learned from me. Helping students grow into confident, capable young adults has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.

Although I’ve stepped out of the traditional classroom, my dedication to student success remains at the heart of my work. As the Director of Dual Enrollment at Trine University, I’m committed to supporting high school students as they take their first steps into higher education. My goal is to strengthen partnerships between high schools and colleges and to guide students, teachers and families through the Dual Enrollment process with clarity, support and confidence.

Outside of work, life is a full and joyful adventure. My husband, Ryan, and I have been married for 20 years, and together with our two children, Collin and Madalynn, we love exploring the outdoors—camping, hiking and kayaking whenever we can. Our home is lively, shared with three dogs and, in true former-science-teacher fashion, a collection of quirky pets. I’m also a lifelong learner who’s always diving into a new hobby or interest—because curiosity has always been part of who I am.

Melissa Lawson ~ Assistant Director of Dual Enrollment - Matriculation

My enthusiasm and drive are in education. I believe learning opens doors, creates opportunities and helps people grow personally and professionally. I’ve worked in higher education for over 14 years, serving in both public and private institutions.

As the Assistant Director of Dual Enrollment Matriculation at Trine University, I’m excited to work with Samantha Fulton to support high school students and their families. Together, we help them find dual enrollment opportunities that make college more accessible, affordable and equitable for all.

I've been married for 30 years, and my husband and I have three adult children. They were all educated in homeschool, public and private school settings, which gave me a broad perspective as a parent and educator. I also homeschooled for over 10 years and worked in university career services, assisting students move from the classroom to their careers.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, taking long walks, having lunch or dinner with family and friends, and watching movies. I grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and later moved to Indiana where I’ve had many “firsts” like mowing with the riding mower, picking and freezing vegetables, visiting a drive-in theater and, of course, shoveling snow! I look forward to exploring even more places in Indiana and beyond the Midwest.
