The Annual Trine Book Night was hosted on Wednesday, Oct. 11 of this year. The event was sponsored by the Trine Humanities Institute and planned by the COM: 253 Event Planning and Promotion students. Lasting from 4-7 p.m. at The Furth Center, 270 people attended the event and had the chance of selecting free books, records, competing in trivia and winning prizes every half hour. All prizes given away were generously donated from Caleo, Claudy Creations, Elemento, Golden Green, Jenny Lu’s, Starbucks, the Trine Book Store and Wieland Chase.
The main event of Trine Book Night was, of course, the books. Over 3,000 were collected in preparation for the event and over 2,000 of these books were distributed to the community, with all remaining books being donated to local organizations. The night featured a wide selection of genres including romance, biography, fiction-lit, self help, historical and children’s books. With such a large variety, everyone in attendance had the opportuinity to select a book of their liking. And for those of the community that were more musically inclined, there were several tubs of records to be perused which included the likes of Frank Sinatra, The Carpenters, and Elvis.
Trine Book Night gives the community of Angola the opportuinty to explore a new world, rediscover their love for reading or even discover it for the first time.
