Summary

The International Services Advisor is responsible for advising international students on matters related to their status as an international student. The International Services Advisor works with international students to aid them in maintaining lawful immigration status by advising on immigration regulations, policies, and procedures. Additionally, this position assists students by serving as a Designated School Official (DSO).  This position is full-time with the expectations of 40 hours per week with occasional evening and/or weekend work required.  The remote/flexible work schedule allows a hybrid work environment of remote and on-site work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise international students on matters relating to their specific immigration regulations and visa statuses.
  • Engage in frequent contact with international students until graduation to assist students with institutional compliance and federal regulations as related to international students.
  • Advise students in making informed decision regarding international visa requirements.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
  • Process international student requests including I-20s.
  • Manage the academic progress of international students and report this information, through a web portal, to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on a regular basis.
  • Advise students on immigration status related information.
  • Oversee the maintenance of international student files to ensure accuracy in Sunapsis and SEVIS.
  • Maintain the international admit and international student email in-boxes.
  • Organize informational sessions for international students and academic advisors.
  • Stay up-to-date on government updates for international students.
  • Assist with admission processes when and if needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with international student relations.
