Summary:

The IT Junior Systems Administrator and Services Specialist is responsible for assisting the Senior Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, and IT Services department in the maintenance, development, and continuous enhancement of all IT systems. The IT Junior Systems Administrator and Services Specialist is responsible for server maintenance and updates, networking services upgrades, and IT Service calls in conjunction with the IT Services department. This position reports to the IT Operations manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, installation, configuration, and updating physical and virtual Windows/Linux based servers.
  • Assist administration of VMware vSphere and vCenter environments.
  • Responsible for weekly administrator duties including scheduled job validation, account creations/terminations backup confirmation and monitoring available space on all database and web servers.
  • Troubleshoot problems with web services, mail services, applications software, desktop/server relationship issues and overall aspects of a server environment.
  • Assist IT Services with client support as needed.
  • Use help desk ticket system and document progress for work performed.
  • Assist in ensuring the stability, availability, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centers.
  • Assist the Network Administrator through maintaining network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, troubleshooting network problems, and escalating problems to vendors.
  • Install and configure new network hardware, software releases, system upgrades; evaluate and install patches
  • Participate in weekend monthly maintenance for all servers and endpoints.
  • Maintain documentation for applications, processes, and best practices. Provide training and support to end-users.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
