‘Girls’ trip’ brings 9 alumnae back to campus

August 07, 2024

Nine Tri-State University alumnae recently returned to the Trine University campus as part of an annual get-together that stretches back nearly 40 years.

Natalie (Whitcomb) Rizzo, 1984 BSBA, Denise (Maddux) Devereux, 1985 BSMGT, Julie Ann (Jeffries) Churnell, 1986 BSAE, Lori Whitehead, 1984 BSBA, Jo Lynn Wolfenberger, non-degreed alumna, Brenda Ransley, 1986 BSCS, Jeanette Nolan, 1986 BSCS, Kelle Sproat, 1988 BSMGT, and Cindy (Mercer) Stephens, 1986 BSACC, were transported by limousine from Whitehead’s home in Bourbon, Indiana, on July 26.

While on campus, they were treated to a special tour by the Office of Admission and lunch at Club Z with Clare Danner, 2019 BACOM/BAENG/2021 MBA, director of alumni relations, and Ingrid Rosales, 2023 BSACC/MBA, assistant director of development and alumni relations.

“We were very, very impressed with the campus,” said Whitehead, who surprised the group with the limo ride. “It was the highlight of our trip.”

The alumnae were all members of the Zeta Eta Theta and were little sisters for Kappa Sigma. Most lived in Cameron Hall.

Today, they are spread out between Utah, Texas, Florida, Connecticut, South Carolina and Indiana. But they still gather annually for their “girls’ trip,” remembering their Tri-State University roots.
